The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is currently in the process of determining Michigan’s state and federal congressional districts for the next decade, with a significant amount of public input. At the same time, Michigan counties are preparing to draw new district boundaries for county commission seats. MSU Extension State and Local Government Specialist Eric Walcott will be discussing the new redistricting process in Michigan, how district maps are drawn at the county level, why both are important, and how Michigan residents can participate in the redistricting process.
