From Sacks to Aprons—1910’s-30’s Do you remember Mother or Grandmother wearing a kitchen apron? Roll back the hands of time to the early 1900’s when poor rural women repurposed sacks into linens for the home, clothes for the family and toys for the children---and of course, aprons. These “Apron Artists” laboriously removed labels and stains from flour/sugar/salt/feedsacks. They then added their artistic “touch” such as crochet, applique, fabric painting, tatting, and of course embroidery—and added a unique pocket or two. Attendees will marvel at the artwork of the work of these artists as they view (and touch) 30+ from Carol’s extensive “Apron Artistry” collection dating from the late 1800’s. Attendees love getting into the spirit of the day by wearing their own apron and sharing its story with others at their table - So please DO!
