Adoption and the Law by Carol Bogan

This Event is for adult adoptee's and other family researchers interested in the topic of Adoption and how the triad (Adoptee, Birth Parent & Adoptive Parents) is affected with the current Michigan Laws. The speaker, Mrs. Carol Nowak Bogan, St Clair County Genealogy & History Society (SCCGHS) former member and adoptee herself, will share her research tools & tips used in a 34-year experience in fighting the “brick walls” and the archaic Michigan laws in search of her true family history and identity.

Michigan’s “Donut Hole” in Closed Adoption Records and how it effects an Adoptee’s ability to obtain their original birth certificate. There will also be adoption research tips and resources to assist in locating one’s birth family.
