Virtual - Exploring Contemporary Activist Art with Dr. Stefanie Snider

Wednesday, January 196:30—8:00 PMZoom

Contemporary activist art is wide-ranging in terms of forms, subjects, and meanings. Activist art typically challenges the status quo, often in public settings, to bring new ideas into the world that engage with questions about social and interpersonal relationships, political systems, and structures of inequity. This talk will look at several examples of Contemporary activist art made by artists from around the world, discussing the aesthetics, design, and messages of each work as a way to explore their impact in the art world and beyond.

Presenter: Dr. Stefanie Snider, Assistant Professor of Art History at the Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University
